Chief Desmond Creates Own Mystery

St. Louis Chief of Detectives William Desmond created a bit of a mystery in January 1903, quando ha tentato di sgattaiolare via e sposarsi. It was to be the 45-year-old Desmond’s first marriage. Robert Jenks, secretary to Fire Chief Swingley, served as best man, while the Chief’s sister Maria Desmond served as bridesmaid. The couple married at St. Ann’s Catholic Church before embarking on their honeymoon.
