The Simmermans in the 1800s

     John A. Simmerman was the son of Rev. William Arehart Simmerman.  He was born in Wytheville, Virginia on August 18, 1798.  John A. married Margaret (unknown last name, 1802-1875) around 1819.  William D. Simmerman was born in 1819.  John A. appears to have owned property in both Virginia and Kentucky.  He has residences in both states in the 1820, 1840

What Are “B” Films?

     “B” films resulted from Hollywood distribution companies moving to a double bill or two movies screening at theaters.  When the Great Depression led movie goers to start forgoing films between 1930 and 1932, Hollywood studio, which still controlled production and distribution, came up with the idea of showing two films to give customers more bang for their buck.
