Terror By Night (1946)

     Universal Pictures released the thirteenth of fourteen Sherlock Holmes films starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes on February 1, 1946.  Twentieth Century-Fox produced the first two films.  Universal produced the final 12 films.  Terror By Night (1946) finds Holmes hired to protect the Star of Rhodesia diamond on a train bound for Scotland.      Rodney Carstairs hires

Sherlock Holmes’ A Study in Scarlet (1933)

      The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes (1939) is the second and last of the two Sherlock Holmes films made by Twentieth-Century Fox in 1939.  Basil Rathbone stars as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce plays Dr. Watson.  The movie is set in 1894 and Holmes is once again pursuing Professor Moriarty, played by George Zucco.       Moriarty tells Holmes after once again escaping
