After Sam Muchnick retired on January 1, 1982, Bob Geigel and Pat O’Connor ran the St. Louis promotion. When they started booking it like Central States, fan interest started to decrease and they disaffected Larry Matysik, longtime announcer and office assistant. Larry spoke with Sam, who gave Larry his approval to start a rival promotion.
Larry started Greater St. Louis Wrestling Enterprise and obtained TV time on KDNL Channel 30. Larry’s promotion ran for 4 months and 6 shows. I attended two of the shows.
