Morrissey vs. Poole Revised and On Sale
We recently revised my second combat sports history book, Morrissey vs. Poole: Politics, Prizefighting and The Murder of Bill the Butcher. I enjoyed researching and writing this book more than my other titles because it crosses the 19th Century bare knuckle prizefighting world, New York City politics as well as national politics.
World Bare Knuckle Prizefighting Champion John Morrissey and William “Bill the Butcher” Poole were not only rivals in the prizefighting world. As enforcers for the Tammany Hall Democratic Machine and the Know-Nothing Party respectively, the men were on a collision course from the time Morrissey arrived in New York as a 21-year-old.
The book tells the story of athletic prowess, local politics, murder and ultimately redemption. As a gift to readers, we are giving the e-book version away this weekend, May 5-7, 2017. For the remainder of May, the e-book will be on sale for $0.99 and the paperback will also be reduced. In the first week of June, both will be regularly priced at $11.99 for the paperback and $2.99 for the e-book.
Thank you for being a reader.
