Rov 44 – Hluas Ed Lewis

Hloov tshiab

I have committed to finishing the St. Louis history book in the next few months. Since I also want to finish the story of Ed “Strangler” Lewis’ career, I am going to work on both projects at the same time.

I should finish both projects by late summer or early fall 2024.

I briefly speak about the disturbing allegations against Vince McMahon. We will discuss more in-depth on the Monday, Lub ob hlis ntuj 5, 2024 episode.

Kuv sau tiav Origins of a Legend: The Making of Ed “Strangler” Lewis. It is available on Amazon in e-book, paperback, hardcover, and for the first time, audiobook.

During the project, I was able to discover the real story of why Robert Friedrich changed his name to Ed “Strangler” Lewis.

How Lewis met Billy Sandow for the first time?

A rare instance where Lewis hooked his opponent when they quick working and started shooting with each other.

I also learned that Lewis wrestled Stanislaus Zbyszko in one of Zbyszko’s last matches in the spring of 1914. I thought Lewis and Zbyszko met for the first time in 1921.

Review

I recommend an episode of World Class Championship Wrestling Star Wars from 1981 on Peacock. The episode includes a match where a fan is so caught up in the action that he attacks manager Gary Hart.

I also recommend Harley Race vs. Kerry Von Erich as a typical 1980s NWA title match.
