Double Cross (1941)
אויף יוני 27, 1941, Producer’s Releasing Corporation (פּרק) released Double Cross (1941). The film is a starring vehicle for Kane Richmond, who displays his usual rugged toughness backed up by intelligence. אין דעם פילם, Richmond plays Police Officer Jim Murray, the son of a Police Captain.
At the beginning of the film, Jim Murray’s friend Steve Bronson, another police officer, is shot during a raid of Nick Taggert’s club. Police believe Officer Bronson, who was having a romantic relationship with one of Taggert’s singers, tried to shoot Captain Murray but it was another member of the club.
Officer Bronson warns Jim about Taggert’s plot to kill Captain Murray. Jim Murray decides to foil Taggert’s plot before his father his killed. Jim will have to overcome the disapproval of his father and fellow officers as well as the doubts of his girlfriend. Jim intends to marry Steve Bronson’s sister, Ellen Bronson played by Pauline Moore.
Kane Richmond was one of the most prolific “ב”film actors in the 1930s and 1940s. Richmond played or starred in 103 films between 1929 און 1948. Richmond retired in 1948 to have a successful career in the fashion industry.
Richmond was born two days before Christmas on December 23, 1906 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Unlike many other Hollywood stars, Richmond only married one time to Marion Burns. Kane and Marion had two children and remained married until his death on March 22, 1973 בייַ 66 יאָרן פון עלטער.
Double Cross (affiliate link) is one of the lesser “ב” films starring Kane Richmond due to large plot holes and pedestrian performances by both Kane Richmond and John Milijan.
The film runs 63 מינוט. I would recommend it to fans of either Richmond or Milijan. Just don’t expect that much in this 2 out of 4 star film.
