Uppdatera

I have completed the first draft of the history of the American Heavyweight Wrestling Championship. Jag räknar med att släppa den färdiga boken i slutet av oktober eller början av november 2022.

We also briefly discuss the situation in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) with the suspension of their top star and three Executive Vice Presidents. The situation is fascinating from a management perspective.

Main Content

We begin the main topic by paraphrasing a section of Lou Thesz’s Autobiography, Hora, about John “Tigermannen” eller “Nebraska Tigerman” Sand. Och “Strangler” Lewis’s recollection of Pesek is the basis for Thesz’s description. Lewis mentored Thesz.

I have a tough time squaring this account of Pesek with his action in legitimate contests (shoots) that Pesek wrestled in the early 1920s. Pesek wrestled the trust buster Marin Plestina i november 1921.

Pesek wrestled an even more dangerous contest with NCAA Wrestling Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Nat Pendleton in 1923. Jack Curley was feuding withThe Gold Dust Trio.” Curley backed Pendleton for a matchup with World Champion Ed “Strangler” Lewis but Billy Sandow sent Pesek to wrestle Pendleton instead. Gamblers favored Pendleton in the matchup.

John Pesek was born in Ravenna, Nebraska on February 21, 1894. Pesek wrestled sporadically after 1930 because he made a fortune racing greyhound dogs.
