In our original update we covered most of the main wrestling stories since Dan went in to the hospital. Sa kasamaang-palad, none of the audio was useable from this section.
Pangunahing Nilalaman
Sa 1921, the New York State Athletic Commission banned the stranglehold, scissors, headlock, and toe hold.
The commission fell for Billy Sandow’s and Ed “Strangler” Lewis’s promotional tactics in selling the headlock as a deadly wrestling hold.
New York promoters Jack Curley and Tex Rickard did not like the new rule. Curley and Rickard feared criticizing the rule because the Commission could fine or ban them from New York.
Instead, an Olympic Champion criticized the ban, which could seriously damage professional wrestling as a spectator sport.
