I discuss the first of three matches in 1926 between World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Joe Stecher and John “Nebraskos tigras” Smėlis. Stecher and Pesek wrestled in St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday, Balandis 29, 1926, for five hours before the referee raised Stecher’s hand.
