The history of Decoration/Memorial Day in the United States
Emil Klank, Frank Gotch’s manager, wanted to schedule Gotch’s match with Stanislaus Zbyszko on Decoration Day, მაისი 30, 1910.
However, Chicago’s mayor refused to issue the permit because it would distract fans from decorating their relatives’ graves.
Why promoters preferred to schedule big matches for holidays. The big crowds who came out to matches on Labor Day 1911 and July 4, 1916.
