Rip Roarin’ Buckaroo

Tom Tyler was een ster van Westerns in de jaren 1920, 30s en '40, maar hij speelde ook in series zoals The Phantom (1943). Hij speelde zelfs Kharis de Mummy in Hand The Mummy's (1940). Echter, hij was vooral een westerse acteur. Hij begon als acteur en stuntman in 1920 stille films. The Cowboy Cop (1926) was een van zijn vroege westerse films. Later, hij deel uit van de tweede groep van drie Mesquiteers zou worden.

In deze film, hij speelt Scotty McQuade, een professionele prijsvechter. In the opening scenes, Scotty is fighting but cannot see due to his manager colluding with the promoter to put substance in his eyes. The other figher knocks Scotty out.

The manager, promoter, and opponent carry back to the dressing room and quickly try to leave. Scotty revives before they escape and realizes that they plotted to beat him. Scott knocks out his opponent, manager, and promoter before leaving.

Scotty quits the fight game to go work on a ranch. Hij raakt bevriend met de rancher en zijn dochter. The promoter shows up and causes dissension between Scotty and the rancher. Scotty proves himself to the rancher by winning a race for the rancher after the rancher kicked Scotty off the ranch.

To save their ranch from the crooked promoter, Scott agrees to one more fight with his former opponent. Natuurlijk, the promoter will try every dirty trick to prevent the fight from happening.

Tom Tyler had een professionele bokser geweest, matroos, houthakker en kampioen gewichtheffer voordat hij begon zijn acteercarrière. Hij was op zijn best in atletische actie-avontuur films. Naast deze film, die loopt over 54 notulen, I would highly recommend The Phantom serial.
