Bhí mé a scríobh faoi cheann de mo scannán is fearr leat, An Pimpernel Scarlet (1935). It is an adaptation of the novel by the same name, scríofa ag Banbharún Orczy. The film (nasc affiliate) baineann sé le piaraí Sasanach, a rioscaí a shaol ag coigilt aristocrats Fraince ón gilitín. The story is complicated by the fact the peer is married to a French woman, who was tricked into sending aristocrats to the guillotine.
Still from the Scarlet Pimpernel
Leslie Howard portrays the Englishman, Sir Percy Blakeney, and Merle Oberon plays his wife, Lady Blakeney, nach bhfuil a fhios go bhfuil a fear céile an Pimpernel Scarlet. Saoránach Chauvelin, portrayed by Raymond Massey, arrives from France to discover the identity of the Pimpernel. Chauvelin tricked Lady Blakeney into betraying her friends in the past and attempts to get his clutches into her again by threatening her brother Armand’s safety. I enjoy this movie for a number of reasons.
1) Cad a fheiceann tú nach bhfuil an méid a fhaigheann tú. The Pimpernel must use deception to successfully rescue the aristocrats so nothing is really as it seems. Tá tú i gceannas chun a chreidiúint rud amháin, ach a fháil amach eile ag deireadh an scannáin.
2) Is é an gníomhú superb. I mhalartú amháin idir Sir Percy agus Chauvelin, Sir Percy, a ghníomhaíonn mar FOP trí chuid mhór den scannán, léann dán go bhfuil sé scríofa mar gheall ar an Pimpernel le Chauvelin. Ceann de na línte is “sin Frenchies lorg dó gach áit.” Chauvelin Freagraíonn placidly, “Is maith liom é, Sir Percy. Particularly that those ‘Frenchies seek him every where’ part.”
Still from the Scarlet Pimpernel
3) Tá sé níos mó ná brains brawn. Cé go bhfuil Sir Percy ann go fisiciúil féin a chosaint, but Sir Percy is successful because of his ability to out think the enemy. I radharc amháin, a leanúna ag iarraidh a stoirm an garastún na Fraince ach insíonn Sir Percy iad a bheidh gníomh den sórt sin a sholáthar useless dóibh. D'fhéadfadh siad a bhuachan cath amháin agus a chailleann an chogaidh.
It is a great movie running just about 90 minutes. Many of the DVDs leave out the scene between Sir Percy and his brother-in-law Armand, which is one of the keys to understanding Sir Percy and his motivation.
