Thank you for clicking on my About Me page. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, which is often the subject of my historical writing. I fell in love with St. Louis history listening to my Grandma and Grandpa Ellis’ stories of the “good old days” in St. Louis during our car rides to Lake Tishomingo.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Tamara for 20 years. We have three wonderful children, who all have their own unique skills and interests.
When I started blogging in February 2013, I was kind of all over the map with my writing. I have a number of interests including genealogy, history and the martial arts, which I wrote about on this blog. Now, I write about history from about 1870 to 1920 with a particular focus on combat sports history and St. Louis history including police history.
I have been promising my mom for years that I would write the family history, which I was able to complete in 2013. You can read the material from this project by clicking here.
On Friday, I write about classic films. In 2014, I added a history focused podcast although I decided against continuing it in late 2016.
Articles are usually posted 2 to 3 times a week. You can subscribe by e-mail, RSS feed or follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google+. I normally post all new articles on Twitter.
If you like what you read, I would greatly appreciate you sharing the posts with other people that you feel might like or benefit from the information. The most powerful way to spread information through word of mouth. I appreciate any assistance in spreading the word about the website.
All my posts can be found by clicking on the archive by month or the easier method is probably by category.
If you would like access to two free ebooks and information on future projects and other free goodies, you can sign up for my weekly newsletter. I promise to respect your email box and not send you too frequent and “spammy” emails. Thanks for reading our About Me page.
