Episode 15 – Lewis’ Last Contests

Werk

We have a guest in the studio this week. My cousin, Dan Zimmerman, joins us to talk about attending live wrestling cards in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Dan recounts how I almost got us both killed during a WWF wrestling card at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis during 1986.

Main Topic

We discuss the last two legitimate contests Ed “Worger” Lewis wrestled during the 1930s. Joseph “Toots” Mondt recruited his old training partner and business partner from the Gold Dust Trio to settle two promotional wars. Mondt talked Lewis into wrestling legitimate contests with Ray Steele and Lee Wykoff, respectively, to settle the promotional disputes.
