After the world title was divided by the double-cross of Wayne “Big” Munn, the professional wrestling promoters and managers thought that Ed “Strangler” Lewis and Joe Stecher would reunify the title within six months to a year.
Observers underestimated the animosity between Lewis and Stecher, which kept the title divided for three years.
