Main Content

I have almost completed the history of the American Heavyweight Wrestling Championship. I have a solid timeline for the championship that is tighter and more linear. I have enjoyed writing it over the last three weeks because of researching the six-match series between Frank Gotch and Tom Jenkins.

Tom Jenkins defeated Frank Gotch in three contests over their rivalry. No other wrestler scored more than one victory over Gotch. Jenkins did not shrink from fouling Gotch back, when Gotch palm struck, and head butted him. Jenkins pinned Gotch six times over their rivalry.

Jenkins went into semi-retirement in 1906 after the U.S. Military Academy at West Point hired Jenkins to be their self-defense instructor.
