One Body Too Many (1944)
On Thanksgiving Weekend 1944, Paramount Pictures released One Body Too Many, a comedy-mystery film starring Jack Haley. Haley famously played the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (1939). The film also starred Jean Parker, Lyle Talbot, Douglas Fowley and Bela Lugosi in supporting roles.
One Body Too Many kòmanse ak milyonè Cyrus J. Rutherford’s heirs gathered to hear the reading of his will. Rutherford, yon pèsonalite inik, pral sèlman pèmèt eritye li yo eritye fòtin li si yo antere l nan yon fason espesifik. Si kò a pa antere l nan fason espesifik sa a, testaman an ranvèse epi moun k ap resevwa lis la ap resevwa plis eritaj la. Fearing some of the heirs may try to steal the body to affect the distribution of funds, the executor sends for a detective.
Jack Haley jwe vandè asirans Albert L. Tuttle. San okouran de lanmò li, Albert ap eseye vann Rutherford sirans vi. Albert se okòmansman fè erè pou detektif la epi yo mennen nan chanm nan ak kò Rutherford a.
Albert deside ale apre li reyalize Mr. Rutherford mouri men rete pou pwoteje Carol Dunlap youn nan eritye yo. Jean Parker jwe Carol.
Bela Lugosi’s image is often used to promote the film but his role was relatively small. Lugosi plays Merkil the butler, who spends most of the film saying, “Tea, sir?” Lugosi dekri Merkil nan yon fason pou fè telespektatè a kesyone sa l ap fè men kontribisyon li nan fim nan se minè..
The film (lyen afilye) bati nan sèn nan kouri dèyè inevitab nan fen an. Ki moun ki ap eseye ranvèse volonte a?
One Body Too Many (1944) is a Paramount “B” fim, so it runs a little longer than usual at 75 minit.
