The Longworths, Drummond’s and Clavering’s best friends, arrive in Switzerland for the wedding. Gwen Longworth gives Phyllis a perfect synthetic diamond made by her father, Professor Bernard Goodman.

Professor Goodman’s invention attracts the attention of both the merchants in the diamond exchange and a fellow scientist. Several villains descend on Goodman’s house, which is blown up. Goodman is presumed dead but Bulldog Drummond believes differently.

Halliwell Hobbes plays Professor Goodman. Hobbes was born Herbert Halliwell Hobbes on November 16, 1887 in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, England. Hobbes achieved success as a Shakespearean actor in England. In 1929, 52-year-old Hobbes came to Hollywood.

By the early 1930s, Hobbes found steady work. Before he retired, Hobbes played supporting roles in over 120 films. Hobbes passed away on February 20, 1962 at 84 years of age due to a heart attack.
