Jeffries employed Martin “ファーマー” バーンズ, the trainer of World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Frank Gotch, to train Jeffries for the fight. Despite a verbal agreement between Burns and Jeffries., Burns decision to train Jeffries also affected Frank Gotch’s training for a world title match with Stanislaus Zbyszko in June 1910.
