Zbyszko與Plestina?

The following excerpt is from my new book Double Crossing the Gold Dust Trio, 這將是今年夏天.

During the summer (of 1921), Zbyszko 兄弟接到消息說他們的母親病重. 快速準備, they let Curley and the other promoters know they would be leaving as soon as they could arrange passage on a ship.

They were able to book passage for Poland in the first week of July. They were scheduled to return to the United States at the end of September. The return was an estimate as ship travel wasn’t always easy to predict. Their mother’s health would also be the primary driver for when they returned. Sadly, she passed away during their visit.

Upon their return from Poland, Stanislaus Zbyszko was scheduled to defend his title against former World Champion Earl Caddock. Zbyszko also made news by accepting a challenge through his manager.

Before leaving for Poland, Zbyszko’s manager Jack Herman said Stanislaus Zbyszko would defend his title against the challenge of Marin Plestina sometime after the match with Caddock. Tex Rickard was still offering $25,000 for anyone to wrestled Plestina.

(The situation with Plestina was described earlier in the book. 特克斯·里卡德, the powerful boxing promoter was attempting to enter professional wrestling. Rickard employed Marin Plestina, who was challenging other high profile wrestlers to a contest. Jack Curley and other promoters didn’t want Rickard involved, 所以 they ignored the challenge for as long as they could.)

Joe Marsh, who managed Plestina, correctly expressed doubt that the match would ever occur. “You can bet all the money in the United States of America that Herman will never doing anything of the sort – not while Zbyszko holds the Jack Curley championship.”

Marsh had a better understanding of the situation than either Herman or Stanislaus Zbyszko. Curley nor Sandow would ever let their World Champion wrestle a contest with Plestina even if the champion was likely to win.

The Zbyszkos were delayed in returning to the United States, so his Des Moines, Iowa title defense with Earl Caddock scheduled for October 19, 1921 was rescheduled for November 7^日.
